Uruguay has adopted a republican and democratic form of government.
It has a presidential system which divides State duties into three powers: Executive Power, Legislative Power and Judicial Power.
Every five years, in accordance to the Constitution, the Uruguayan people, with a notable tradition of freedom and democracy, goes to the polls and elects the authorities who will rule the country from then on.
